Big, handsome and hunky, JJ LaRousse looks like an alpha male but acts like an interior decorator. And he’s trying to be happy about it — until a robbery at the famous Laguna Winter Fantasy brings JJ face-to-face with tough cop, Ryan Star. JJ hears Ryan likes guys who are manly men, so he drops his voice an octave, colors over his pink hair, and tries to pass as a football fan.
Ryan Star may be tough but he hides in the closet at work since he learned in New York that being a gay cop can cost you your life. His attraction to that big, handsome kid threatens his anonymity, but he can’t seem to resist. JJ is just his type. But then JJ goes skiing and comes face to face with his greatest nemesis– and all the secrets come out of the closet. Can Ryan love JJ for who he really is? More important, can JJ?
This was a good read. I enjoyed one of the main characters more so than the other but they made a good fit in the end.
JJ is what some would look at and call a manly man because of his looks as far as being a big guy. Most who do not know him would think that he was into sports, and all that macho stuff but that is so far from the truth. The little saying looks can be deceiving is so true for JJ. He hates sports, he likes interior designing, he cannot stand spiders and he likes to color his hair and be different. Normally that is not a problem for him but when he meets a cop named Ryan he knows that he will have to act like what he despises in order to be with him.
Ryan is a closeted cop that likes his men big and strong. He wants someone who is into football and he can hang out with and no one would suspect anything from them being around one another. He thinks he has found that with JJ but not everything is as it seems.
What will happen when Ryan learns the truth? Can JJ continue to hide who he really is from Ryan? Can Ryan continue to deny his true nature? Will JJ be able to live with it if Ryan does continue to hide?
This was a good read with a little bit of drama thrown in for good measure. I loved JJ. Though he tried to hide who he is in order to have someone like him, he really is a good person. He has an incredible personality and he made me laugh numerous times throughout this read. I really enjoyed JJ and Ryan’s story. Tara Lain did a great job on this book.
