Brett Lane was twenty-eight, single, and mostly satisfied with that. His life had always been lived for the moment, his job as a film star had afforded him a certain lifestyle he was used to and he’d never shied away from the limelight. At least not until the night his brother and his sister-in-law were killed in a car accident that left him suddenly responsible for his infant niece, Layla.

Out of the blue, he needed to figure out how to juggle his career, parenting, and just to complicate matters the nanny from the company his agent hired for him was not only gorgeous, he was funny, smart and amazing with his niece. If he’d met Mark any other way, Brett wouldn’t have hesitated to ask him out, but he couldn’t risk making things awkward or having Mark quit. Layla’d lost enough people and, honestly, so had Brett.

It didn’t matter how much he wanted Mark, how much fun they had together or the looks he sometimes thought Mark was giving him. He had to be selfless about this for once.

Sometimes out of a tragedy there is also a new beginning. That is how it is for Brett.

Brett is a famous movie star. He is one of those people that even though he is famous, he is still genuine and caring and has not let the fame and fortune go to his head. While on location doing a shoot for his new movie, he gets the worst news that he never saw coming. His brother, wife, and infant daughter had been in a bad car wreck and though Layla is fine, his brother and wife are not.

Brett immediately goes to the hospital they are at and finds out that both lost their lives and have left Brett as Layla’s guardian. Brett never questions whether to take her or not. He just knows she needs him and he is more then willing to do whatever it is that Layla needs.

Brett’s best friend and agent immediately comes to help Brett and even finds him a nanny on short notice and that is when Brett meets Mark. Mark knows that things are not going to be easy for Brett and Layla at first but he can see how much Brett cared and the lengths that’s Brett will go to in order to be able to care for her. That just makes Brett that much more attractive in Mark’s opinion.

The problem with both of these men is neither wants to ruin what they have. Their working relationship is great and their friendship is even better. It takes Mark possibly going on a blind date for Brett to man up be admit how he feels about Mark. This could either be the beginning of something wonderful or it could lead to total disaster.

This was such a good read. It is tragic but at the same time it is also heartwarming. A.D. Lawless did an incredible job on this book. I love how Brett and Mark started out as friends that let led up into something special. I also like that this was a slow burn type of read. I really think others will enjoy this read as much as I did. It was an exceptional read.

Hello, I am an avid reader of male/male books. I do not have a favorite genre when it comes to male/male books because I love all of them from romance, dark reads, paranormal, shifter, threesome, whatever I see that catches my eye at the time.

I read books about rock stars, CEOs, military, cops, and just the original plain old good boy types of books.

Basically when it comes to a book, I read whatever I am in the mood for at the time. So my tastes varies from day to day and sometimes even hour to hour.

Please comment! We'd love to hear from you.
