When private investigator, Shane Stephens, is hired by the mayor of Cincinnati to track down the hacker who has been threatening him, Shane is sure this is the opportunity to launch the Merleau Detection Agency into the big time. He even convinces Rowe Ward of Ward Security to loan him one of his best IT specialists, Quinn Lake.
Shane, a man who prefers casual intimacy, is surprised by his attraction to the moody computer geek, but when Quinn suggests they have fun for the month he’s on loan, Shane happily agrees. Both men are expecting nothing more than a good time.
But the investigation takes an unexpected turn and they quickly discover they are facing more than a hacker out to ruin the mayor’s re-election chances. And as they spend more time together, they realize their relationship may be a lot more than just a good time.
With only weeks until the election, Shane and Quinn race to gather the proof they need while dodging bullets and possibly…falling in love.
Shane Stephens is a private investigator who’s been hired by the mayor of Cincinnati to track a hacker who’s been threatening him. Hacking isn’t something Shane’s small firm deals with usually so he goes to Rowe Ward of Ward Security to borrow one of his best IT guys.
Quinn Lake isn’t happy about being loaned out for a month to Shane, so he and Shane initially have some friction, but the attraction between them is too hot to be ignored.
Quinn takes some time to eventually warm up with Shane as they give in to their attraction while slowly building a friendship with benefits. The lust is instant, but the falling in love, though it happens quickly, hits both guys pretty much out of the blue.
The mystery throughout is tight, and though the relationship between Shane and Quinn took a bit of time to rev up, once it gets going…it’s on fire! I loved the dual POV and getting both sides of the story and I really enjoyed how all the mystery elements played out and the character development of Quinn and Shane.
I’m loving this series just as much as Unbreakable Bonds. Great mystery, hot sexy times, a bit of suspense…what’s not to like?
