Can a swan make peace with his ugly duckling past?
Chubby geek Jimmy Zebulon’s heart broke the day his high school crush, Danny Parker, looked on as his teammates tormented Jimmy. Fifteen years later, Jimmy is long gone, and from his ashes has risen Graham Swann, a movie-star-handsome law firm owner. Graham thinks Jimmy and his past are long forgotten—until attorney Dan Parker shows up for his first day of work.
Getting injured playing college ball was the best thing that ever happened to Dan. It turned his future in a better direction and allowed him to emerge from the closet that trapped him.
Graham wants to believe his childhood dream can come true, but he can’t bring himself to tell Dan who he really is—and their pasts might ruin any chance for a happily ever after….
This is such a good read. What do you do when the most popular boy in school is also the quarterback of the football team and you are secretly in love with him? Even worse what happens to a gay person when the popular boy and quarterback of the football team could stop all the bullying and the taunting but he doesn’t?
This is a book about growing up and trying to forget the person that you were only to become someone better in the end. Problem is when you do not deal with the hurt and pain from the past, it will haunt you in the future. That is where Graham is finding himself years later after transforming himself from that overweight boy in high school to a top lawyer with his own law firm.
Graham believes that he has laid all that past pain to rest years ago but when the one person that could have put a stop to all that pain years ago is now working for you at your law firm, it makes the past come barreling back at you full force.
To make matters worse for Graham, Dan is an incredible person. He is an amazing lawyer, father, and now friend that Graham is once again attracted too. Problem is Dan has no clue who Dan is or that they knew one another back in high school. See not only did Graham change in looks wise but he also changed his name.
The closer Graham and Dan get the harder it is for Graham to come clean with Dan. Do what will happen once Dan finds out who he is? Will he be able to forgive Graham or will he walk away from him in the end?
This was a good read. It has funny parts. It has sad parts. And it has serious parts. Shira Anthony did an amazing job writing the book. I was intrigued from the beginning to the end. I would definitely recommend this book to others who like a good but complicated romance.
