Can they find the magic in a practical union?
West is on the run from his werewolf pack, but if he cannot renew his magical defenses, he won’t get far. What he needs is a mage….
Julian is part of a wealthy and ancient family, and one day, his legacy will include his mother’s vast library of spell books—and the knowledge he needs to correct his past mistakes. But his inheritance comes with a stipulation: he has to be married before he can collect. What he needs is a husband….
West and Julian can help each other, and at first they don’t want anything further. But as they dodge meddling cousins, jealous rivals, and an insidious drug, it becomes clear that their lives are entwined in ways they never imagined—and they’re in greater danger than they thought possible.
This was a good read but I have to honest and say there were a couple times that I found myself lost wondering what was going on. That is why I gave this book four stars. This is the first book by Parker Foye that I have read and I did enjoy it.
West is on the run and in hiding from his family. He has been hiding for a while and has even started to build somewhat of a life for himself working at a dinner. But that is all about to come to an end when he realizes that someone knows where he is. That is when he decides to seek out some magical help to reinforce his protection spells. That is where a mage comes into play.
The mage he seeks out is Julian. But Julian is somewhat loud and obnoxious. None the less West knows he needs the help and Julian sees an opportunity to get what he needs out of West. A marriage.
Julian has just found out in order to receive his mother’s inheritance, he has to marry. That is a huge inconvenience for Julian since he cannot seem to keep anyone. But when West seeks him out for help, Julian knows that West could be the answer to his own problems.
Little does West know, but he has other problems heading his way. Rabid has found him and now someone has found his hiding spot and burned it to the ground. So accepting Julian’s proposal is a no brainer since he now has no where else to hide.
These two men together have so much trouble heading their way and both have a common person that is leading the way to them. The only way they will survive is to learn not only to trust each other but maybe even like one another also. Can a marriage of inconvenience turn into so much more?
This was a good book but like I said at times I got a little lost. It usually did not take long for me to figure out what was going on so I still gave the book a high rating. In the end, it turned out to be a very good read. Looking forward to more by Parker Foye in the future.
