They were only kids when they met for the first time. Leo Mancini was the son of a judge. Roman Cipriani the son of a criminal. So different, yet as they shared stolen kisses and secret moments, they fell in love. One day they would run away together, have the future they deserved, because no one loved Leo like Roman did, or Roman like Leo did. But before they could make their dreams come true, their future was viciously stolen and their lives changed forever.

Roman has spent the last twelve years repressing the trauma in his past, trying to pretend it didn’t exist, until even he believed his own lies.

Leo won’t let himself forget what happened because he doesn’t ever want to be that person again. He won’t become the man his father wanted him to be or the guy who gets hurt when he lets someone in.

But in that split second when their eyes meet again, everything changes. Despite Leo’s anger and Roman’s denial, the connection they shared as teens is still there, too powerful to deny. Now, when their moments don’t have to be stolen, they cling to what they’ve always craved—each other.

Roman and Leo aren’t kids anymore, though—they can’t lock themselves away from the world and pretend nothing exists but each other. A trauma like Roman suffered doesn’t just go away, but now that Roman accepts his truth, can the two of them escape their demons before they destroy Roman and Leo a second time?

This is such a heartbreaking read that begins with two teenage boys, Leo and Roman. Both boys are from two different worlds but those worlds collide and join only to be ripped away from them in the most horrible way.

Roman is the son of a criminal. He lives in the bad part of town and has very little money. His father has strong beliefs. Strong enough beliefs that his son knows that when he realizes that he is indeed gay that if his father was to find out, then he would be killed. So Roman does what any teenager would do and tries to hide it from everyone and sneaks around to be with the boy that he loves so much.

Leo is the son of a judge. He lives in a house that most would get lost in but is not happy because though his family has money, he does not have any love in his life. His father and mother ignore him other than when the appearances that they believe are being led to the negative, that is when they want something to do with Leo. So when Leo and Roman discover together their mural attraction to the other, both Roman and Leo for the first time know how it feels to love and be loved. Or at least they did until it was all torn away from them.

Years later things have changed drastically for both men. So when they run into each other for the first time after all these years, it is not only hard for both of them but it is so emotional that it breaks your heart for them. You can feel the love they had for the other in another lifetime but at the same time you can feel the hurt, the anger, and the hate that both feel for the other.

Can years later, two men that have both been hurt by the other learn to forgive? Can they figure out a new normal for not only themselves but together? Will the past once again come between them or will they finally be honest with one another and deal with what happened so long ago?

This book is such an emotional read. You can feel all of the emotions coming off the pages. There are definitely TRIGGER WARNINGS IN THIS BOOK….one being violence and gay bashing. So if you have those triggers, this book is probably not for you. I truly believe this was an incredible read. Riley Hart did an amazing job on this book. I really hope that Anthony will get his own book because I feel like there is so much more to this story. Either that or a follow up book to this one for Leo and Roman.

Hello, I am an avid reader of male/male books. I do not have a favorite genre when it comes to male/male books because I love all of them from romance, dark reads, paranormal, shifter, threesome, whatever I see that catches my eye at the time. I read books about rock stars, CEOs, military, cops, and just the original plain old good boy types of books. Basically when it comes to a book, I read whatever I am in the mood for at the time. So my tastes varies from day to day and sometimes even hour to hour.
