Artist Wynn McGuire has a problem. An enemy wants him dead.
Sheriff Mick Greene also has problems. Helping Wynn survive and finding the elusive ‘Snow Cat’ that is prowling outside his small mountain town.
Wynn and Mick have another problem as well, their growing interest in each other. When Wynn disappears Mick is certain he’s either dead or has gone back to his old life. Then he discovers the truth about Wynn, just days before Wynn comes back into his life. Will this truth, plus Mick’s ex-lover and another man seeking to kill Wynn force them apart, or can they surmount the obstacles and learn that love indeed conquers all.
How did I miss this book the first time around? It sounded right up my alley. Shifters and sheriffs, yum.
It starts unhurriedly but with immediate undercurrent of danger. We met both heroes and it’s clear one of them is keeping secrets.
A whisper of attraction is obvious from the first meeting but it’s not earth shattering lust. I found this rather refreshing. They are aware of each other, but don’t focus on sex to exclusion of everything else. The POV switches between men, keeping reader’s interest in the story.
It’s not overly angsty, complicated or sweet and funny story. It has a little bit of everything and nice even feel. The villain is fairly typical but the plot is smartly handled to allow for development of romance. The story telling is very smooth and secondary characters are likeable and funny.
This is first and foremost a romance story. The suspense part is there mostly to spice things up and does give the story a taste of excitement. I liked that there was no scary moments as it allowed me to relax. It’s a book that can easily be brought to waiting room or a commute as enjoyable way to pass the time and reader can pick up it up again without trouble.
