So…hockey huh? What’s up with that?
Hi there! My name is V.L. Locey and I’m thrilled to be here today! In case you’re not familiar with me I’m an MM romance author, primarily hockey romance, but I do also write non-sporty contemporary, paranormal, and mythological gay romances. Today we’re going to talk a bit about my love of ice hockey!
I’ve had so many people ask me why I write hockey romance. Many folks don’t even know that hockey romance is a thing. Add in that I write gay hockey romance and the looks I get are downright hilarious at times! There’s a bit of a story about how I ended up writing about people on skates brandishing sticks while falling in love. My love of hockey started way back. I mean WAY back in the mid-to-late seventies. I grew up about fifteen minutes from the city limits of Philadelphia and if you sucked Philly air you cheered for the Flyers. Which I did. For years I rooted for the Broad Street Bullies.
Then life led me away from Philly and I ended up living along the New York/Pennsylvania border. Finding hockey games from Philly was tough up here, and this was long before NHL Center Ice was dreamed up, so I settled into life with my new husband and baby girl, and hockey and I sadly drifted apart.
When I started writing professionally about five or six years ago, I stumbled across a submission call for an MM sports anthology. I’d written some MF hockey romances by then but the desire to pen a gay romance really resonated in me. But to do that, I had to refresh my knowledge of the game. A lot had changed over the years I’d been away. Not being able to locate any Flyers games, I chanced upon a New York Rangers game and I was instantly besotted with the team. They quickly became my favorite team and I was once again happily lost in the glory of professional ice hockey. I recently penned my last MF book and am now only writing gay romances, mostly hockey but not all. So that’s how hockey became such an important aspect in my life, not once but twice!
Thanks for dropping by!
Skate hard and love deeply,

Sander March is one season away from the pros, or so everyone tells him.
If only Sander had as much faith in his ability as the Cougar coaching staff does. Outwardly, he’s cocksure, borderline bitter, and slightly sarcastic. All that strut and sass hides a wounded soul though. Working to hide a brutal past filled with humiliation, abuse, and a family member who still haunts him, Sander has never found the kind of comfort and understanding he so desperately needs. Until he meets Mateo Castillo, a minor league baseball player for the nearby Elmira Egrets. Mateo and Sander click instantly, and a budding friendship develops between the two athletes.
Mateo then introduces Sander to his boyfriend, Noah Coombs, an aspiring manga comic creator. The three men find themselves bonding strongly, and that slowly gives way to sexual attraction. Eventually, Mateo and Noah invite Sander into their relationship. The path to happiness isn’t going to be easy for Sander as he faces criticism from his friends, teammates, and the press for his choices. The brash young star can handle all that, it’s when his abuser shows up in Cayuga that Sander fears not only for his own safety, but for the lives of the two men he has grown to love. Will Sander’s past tear him away from Mateo and Noah, or will he be able to leave the darkness behind?
Warning – This story has disturbing subject matter.

V.L. Locey’s Bio
V.L. Locey loves worn jeans, yoga, belly laughs, walking, reading and writing lusty tales, Greek mythology, the New York Rangers, comic books, and coffee. (Not necessarily in that order.) She shares her life with her husband, her daughter, one dog, two cats, a flock of assorted domestic fowl, and two Jersey steers.
When not writing spicy romances, she enjoys spending her day with her menagerie in the rolling hills of Pennsylvania with a cup of fresh java in hand. She can also be found online on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and GoodReads.
