Geordie de la Rosa is a legend among wine lovers in Napa Valley. His ultra-fabulous style paired with a penchant for leading impromptu sing-a-longs has made him a star attraction at Conrad Winery. Co-owning a well-respected winery was never Geordie’s aspiration but he likes the niche he’s made for himself. He won’t deny that his job and his friends have helped ease his heartache and grief after the death of his longtime partner.
Levi Yeager excels at the art of reinventing himself. He’s been a minor league baseball player, a college coach and now a restaurant owner. The problem is he doesn’t know anything about the food business. And when his chef quits unexpectedly, he’s afraid his new venture is doomed. But Levi isn’t a quitter. It may be the only thing he has in common with the beautiful, sassy man from the neighboring winery who agrees to help get his new business up and running. Neither man counts on their fast friendship or the wild attraction they feel for each other. However, they know they won’t stand a chance until they let go of the past and lean into forever.
I have been waiting for Geordie to get his happily ever after since we met him. Geordie has been mourning his husband Mike and still talks to him- still hears him. Geordie who was once full of color now exists in the dark.
In enters Levi, the new diner owner. Everyone agrees that Levi is hot – even Geordie. Grudgingly. The two are opposites. Geordie is all show tunes and glamour, and Levi is sports, jeans, and t-shirts. After they are pushed to work on a project together the two can’t help but- well, you’ll see. 😉
-RELATIONSHIP DEVELOPMENT! This aspect of writing is Hayes’, and it was no different here. Perfect timing, nothing is rushed, and the way things unfold was perfection.
-Opposites attract, I touched on this earlier. As different as they were, they were each other’s perfect match.
-I am a banter whore and this ticked off that box!
-Hurt/Comfort/Healing. The gradual change in Geordie felt very much like watching a flower bloom. I know it sounds corny as fuck- but it’s true. That’s the best way I can describe it.
-Sexy times: it’s Lane Hayes. ‘Nuff said.
-And the end was terrific. ♥
Leaning Into Forever by Lane Hayes is going down as one of my all-time favorites. One moment I was smiling, crying the next, and swooning a page later. I love when stories can evoke so many emotions. If you’re looking for a book to get lost into look no further; Leaning Into Forever is a beautiful book about loss, heartbreak, healing, and new beginnings.
