“Have you ever been so lost that you couldn’t remember what home looked like, what it felt like?
So lost that home was a distant memory – a place that you never had hope of finding it again?
That’s how I felt, how I’d felt for years, for longer than I could remember.
Until I found you, Bas.
I just wish I could tell you that…
I’m coming. I’m coming for you, Bas. And I’m going to do my best to try…for you.”

For longer than he could remember Tenley ‘Ten’ Pinkerton had been lost. Wandering this earth with no hope, no soul, no heart, no purpose. The day the love of his life, Sawyer, had been brutally murdered was the day that everything beyond the basic elements of survival – like breathing and a beating heart – had been shut down.

Until him.
Sebastian ‘Bas’ Monroe
Fucking Bas Monroe
Somehow the man had wormed his way past Ten’s defenses, past the armor plates surrounding his heart, past the pain. Somehow he’d gotten inside.
Ten wasn’t really sure how he felt about that.
But the day that Bas went missing?
Ten knew that he would die if he that’s what it came to in order to find Bas, in order to save him.
The question that remained:
Was he going to be saving Bas Monroe? Or was he going to be saving himself?

This was such a good read. When I first started reading it I thought it would be about the two main characters but the thing is, it is actually about two separate couples. Both couples are intertwined in each other’s lives one way or another and both couples have one man that lost one of their boyfriend/husband to their time in the military. So starting over is not easy and it will take someone special to get these men to live again.

The first man is Ten. Ten lost his boyfriend, Sawyer, in the most horrible of ways. Sawyer was former military or at least that is what Ten believed and he was murdered one night by some men that did not care for the fact that he was gay. When Ten lost Sawyer, he shut down. He would not let anyone get close to him. He shut his heart off and has never let anyone get past those barriers. So when Bas was able to slip past those barriers he put up, it scared Ten enough to send him running. Now a year later Ten has not been able to forget about the night he and Bas spent together and Bas has not forgotten either.

When Ten’s boss calls him and pulls him from a security detail in the middle of the job, Ten knows that something is wrong somewhere but he has no clue what it is. He just knows it is serious. So when he finds out that Bas is missing, and that from the clue he left behind it has something to do with his time in the military, Ten knows he has to face his feelings towards Bas once and for all and that once he finds Bas he needs to tell him how he feels about him no matter how hard it may be for him to let go of the past. At least Ten hopes he gets the chance to tell Bas how he feels.

While looking for Bas there are several people called into the mix of finding him. One man is his boss’s ex, Trent. Trent is still active in the military and even though he is gay, he is out and proud about it. Trent is determined to help his ex and Ten find Bas. But what he does not expect is for another man to be called into the mix of things named Aleksy and the automatic heat between them. Trent is not one to put his foot in his mouth but where Aleksy is concerned, Trent just cannot help himself. It seems that when Aleksy is around and Trent opens his mouth, the truth just comes flying out of it.

Though Aleksy was unexpected to Trent, Liam and his daughter are not. Even though Liam was instrumental in kidnapping Bas, Bas can tell that Liam is begging for help without so much as saying a word. After their time in the military together, Bas can just see the unspoken worry and regret in Liam’s eyes. So when Liam is finally able to get a moment alone with Bas without anyone else in the room where he is being kept, Liam is able to open up to Bas and Bas is able to get word out of where he is being kept and that Liam and his daughter need their help as well.

When some unexpected things happen in Bas’s rescue, some even more unexpected events happen after the rescue mission. That is where the true story begins and the lives of these men will forever be changed.

This was such a great read. I enjoyed this book so much so that I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in this series. Kendel Duncan did an incredible job on this book. There are so many emotions running through this read that it is hard to not feel what these characters are feeling. I look forward to more of this series.

Hello, I am an avid reader of male/male books. I do not have a favorite genre when it comes to male/male books because I love all of them from romance, dark reads, paranormal, shifter, threesome, whatever I see that catches my eye at the time.

I read books about rock stars, CEOs, military, cops, and just the original plain old good boy types of books.

Basically when it comes to a book, I read whatever I am in the mood for at the time. So my tastes varies from day to day and sometimes even hour to hour.

Please comment! We'd love to hear from you.
