The cat’s out of the bag…

In a world that accepts shifters as normal and thinks nothing of human/shifter couples, baby shifters and small shifters are treated as subpar. They are not allowed into the more dangerous professions, and their mates have legal control over what they can and cannot do.

Nicholas Reed is about to challenge the established rules. At twenty-eight, Nick has just been accepted into New York’s Alpha Unit One—an elite law enforcement team, composed equally of humans and shifters, that specializes in drug crimes. It is Nick’s dream job. But if they find out what he’s hiding, his career could be destroyed.

Enter a huge complication in the form of Sam Black, an older lion shifter who is the leader of the unit… and Nick’s mate. Nick wants Sam, and he wants to keep his job, but he can’t have them both. He also can’t choose between them.

This was a really good read. I am such a fan girl when it comes to shifter books and then you add in the concept of them being a police unit as well and you have me at the first sentence.

Nicky is the newest member of Alpha Unit One. Today is his first day and though many shifters, as well as humans, are on the team, there is a no small shifter or “baby shifter” law that prohibits smaller and baby shifters from doing any type of dangerous job. So Nicky has to portray a human in order to be on the team. He cannot let anyone find out that he lied and is not what he said he is.

Nicky is not trying to hurt anyone by not telling the truth, he just wants to be on the force and make a difference. He knows this is the only way to be able to do so. So Nicky has to cover his scent and make sure that no one realizes what he is if he wants to be part of this team.

What Nicky did not expect was to walk in and meet his mate, who is also the team leader. Sam has been betrayed in the past by someone he thought was his mate so he has a hard time believing his gut when it says Nicky is his mate.

At first he tries to fight it but the mating pull is something that is hard to not take heed to. When Sam does finally give in and admits his feelings for Nicky, they both decide it is time to claim the other. Only problem is Nicky still has not told Sam about his true shifter status.

How will Sam take it? Will Nicky be able to still do what he loves while being with the man he loves? Will everything fall apart before it has actually started?

This was a great read. I am hoping this will turn into a series because these guys were really awesome and I would love to read more about them and their unit. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more in the future.

Hello, I am an avid reader of male/male books. I do not have a favorite genre when it comes to male/male books because I love all of them from romance, dark reads, paranormal, shifter, threesome, whatever I see that catches my eye at the time. I read books about rock stars, CEOs, military, cops, and just the original plain old good boy types of books. Basically when it comes to a book, I read whatever I am in the mood for at the time. So my tastes varies from day to day and sometimes even hour to hour.
