Former Special Forces medical sergeant Russell “Red” McKinley knows a thing or two about wounds, like the fact some can take a lifetime to heal, if they heal at all. The scars Red carries run deep, and living with PTSD often means battling the memories of his past. Injuries he received while working an executive protection case with fellow Kings and co-owners of Four Kings Security, have once again forced past heartaches to the surface, but Red is determined not to let it derail his blossoming romance with sweet and sexy fashion photographer Lazarus Galanos.

Laz can’t deny there’s something special developing between him and Red, but Laz has wounds of his own. He’s hesitant to jump into a new relationship after his recent explosive breakup. Experience has taught Laz to doubt his judgement when it comes to men. Guys who seem too good to be true, usually are, and no one appears more perfect than Red.
When an attempt is made on Laz’s life, Red is determined to keep him safe. Laz may not be a client, and Red is still off duty, but Laz is one of their own, and nothing means more to the Kings than family. While an investigation is underway, Red and Laz are growing closer, but can they find a way to help each other heal and take a chance on love, or will their fears and insecurities cost them more than their future together?

Charlie Cochet never lets me down with any of her books. She is such an amazing author and each book that comes out by her is as good, if not better, than the last. This one was no different. Be Still My Heart, was another one of Charlie’s great books. It is filled with love, suspense, danger, and so much more. It is one of those books that keeps you wanting more even as it is ending. Which will bring us to the next book in the series. And as always, I cannot wait for it to come out.

This book is Red and Laz’s story. Laz and Red met one another in book one. Laz is one of Colton’s Best friends and when Laz needed help, Red is who came to his rescue. Since that meeting and what happened afterwards, neither Laz or Red can quit thinking about the other but both have kept their distance.

When Red is tricked by Ace into seeing Laz again at one of Laz’s photo shoots, it could not have been more perfect timing since a gunman starts shooting and the intended target is evidently Laz. The only good thing that come of the shootout was the King’s were present when the shots came so Laz is safe, and now Laz and Red are going to get to spend some much needed time together. Both men will finally get to explore their feelings for the other and figure out if there is more between the two than just some red hot attraction.

With the shooter still at large and very little to go on, Red and Laz spend most of their time together and have grown extremely close. So when an anonymous someone sends a picture to Laz that looks not so innocent on Red’s part, misunderstandings flair and the two may end up losing what ground they have made together. This also gives whomever is after Laz more of an opportunity to finish what they started if Red is not around.

Charlie, as I said, is a truly incredible author. I enjoyed this book. I cannot wait for the next book to come out. That is one book I believe is going to be truly explosive.

Author

Hello, I am an avid reader of male/male books. I do not have a favorite genre when it comes to male/male books because I love all of them from romance, dark reads, paranormal, shifter, threesome, whatever I see that catches my eye at the time.

I read books about rock stars, CEOs, military, cops, and just the original plain old good boy types of books.

Basically when it comes to a book, I read whatever I am in the mood for at the time. So my tastes varies from day to day and sometimes even hour to hour.

Please comment! We'd love to hear from you.
