My name is Liam.
Wild – I was born that way.
I fell into darkness – the fault was all mine, but Jake was there to pick up the pieces.
Could he piece the puzzle that was me back together, before it was too late?
Or, would I succeed where I’d failed once before?
****CAN BE READ AS STAND-ALONE****
OMG!!!! It is a rare occasion that I can say that a book has completely blown me away and left me mush on the ground but this is definitely the book that has done just that. This is the only book I have read in this series but I do believe that I’ll be going back and reading the others. I will most definitely be reading each book that follows this one in this series, that is for sure.
Liam is a teenager when he does something he believes is totally unforgivable. Because of this action, Liam leaves his family and his home behind and tries to start a new life and maybe, hopefully, one day he will be able to make up for his mistakes and earn his family’s forgiveness. The thing is Liam doesn’t think he will ever be able to forgive himself, much less have his family forgive him.
Liam at first finds a job at a restaurant where the owner takes him under her wing and helps him to try and put his life in order. His life is not perfect. He lives in a crappy apartment in a not-so-safe area but he is making it. He is even taking some accounting classes at the college thanks to his boss. But when someone from his past catches up to him, Liam decides the best thing for him to do is put an end to his miserable life. Luckily that does not happen so instead Liam ends up hopping on a bus and riding it to whereever it stops.
That is how Liam ends up in the place that is going to help to change his life forever. Whether it be for the good or the bad, things will never be the same for him. On his first night in the new town, Liam hears an argument outside his hotel and goes to help. That is when he meets a man who is about to change his life. This man’s name is Jake.
Jake and his brother Roan co-own a strip club together. This is not like your normal strip club though. Everyone who works for Jake and Roan is like family. They watch out for one another. They protect one another. They are family. So when Jake meets Liam and immediately offers him a job, Liam believes it is too good to be true. Liam worries he does not deserve the life that Jake is offering him.
Regardless Jake sees something special in Liam and knows he is supposed to be a part of their lives. The only problem is both Jake and Liam feel this tremendous pull between them and both have their reasons as to why they try to avoid it. But sometimes the best things in life are the things we never expected to find.
Can Liam and Jake figure out a way to make a relationship work both at work and home together? Can Liam learn to deal with past mistakes and learn to forgive himself? Will Jake be able to let go of his reservations about him and Liam being together? These are all the questions I kept asking myself as I was reading this book.
This is a truly emotional read. There is definitely some serious angles to the book with triggers for attempted suicide. But there is also the learning to heal and forgive aspect of this read as well. This book is one of those books that I will not soon forget. It is an incredible read. I look forward to more books in this series in the future.
