A Requiem Inc. Story
Dying is easy. New love is terrifying.
Avery Wagner quit ghostwalking when he lost his beloved anchor to cancer. Now teaching others who have the ability, he’s beginning to live again—but he’s not looking for another lover, not now, maybe not ever.
But then he meets Jameson… younger, talented, dedicated, almost perfect, even though his mouth sometimes opens ahead of his brain. And Jameson wants Avery desperately, though he’ll settle for friendship if he can’t have more.
When an emergency demands they work together in the field, Avery discovers just how perfect Jameson is. But he had a perfect love once before, and he’s scared to even consider that he might have a chance at another. Can he trust Jameson with his newly healing heart?
I really like this series. Each book in this series is different but they are all intertwined. Each book has a special story to it about its main characters and I love that about Kris T. Bethke. This story was no different than the last two books in this series in that it has a very interesting storyline with some very sad things but in the end, there is a happy ending.
Jameson is happy he will soon be assigned a person to take care of while they do their ghost walking. He is even more excited he will be getting more training from professionals on how to care for his partner. What he did not expect is to meet a man who will be doing lectures and immediately want to know more about him. Avery intrigued Jameson as soon as he met him. Of course Jameson put his foot in his mouth the first time they talked.
Avery could not believe Jameson had the gall to ask about his previous bonded one that he lost the first time they spoke. It hurt but it also made him angry. He could not believe someone would ask him about it but at the same time he could tell he meant no harm. It took some time to wrap himself around it and he eventually got over it. Eventually he got to know Jameson and that was the beginning of some hard truths and realities for Avery.
The more these two got to know one another, the closer they became and when Jameson has to offer care to Avery when he had to ghost walk after not doing so for a very long time, it brought the two men to a different aspect in their lives. Avery will have to decide what he wants and if he is willing to let go of the past and look to the future. Can Jameson make a life with someone who is still very much in love with someone no longer with them?
I really enjoyed this read and like with the other books, I cannot wait to read the next book in this series. I know that whatever Kris writes about next, it will be just as incredible as the last books.
