It’s time to travel with James and Malcolm through their twenty year history as they battle each other and struggle to hold on to a lifetime of secrets.
Never good enough.
Not the real son.
I will prove him wrong—prove everyone wrong.
I am someone.
I will succeed.
I don’t need my brother to help me.
I don’t need anyone.
My enemy holds my secret.
He teases me.
Follows me with his eyes.
Our hot, angry kisses keep me up at night.
I don’t want him.
I hate him.
But I can’t stop thinking about him.
That there’s more to him
I want to discover him.
The truth is unexpected.
My enemy might not only be my friend but the love I never thought to have.
Live, love, laugh.
Life is too short to worry when you don’t know how long you’ve got.
I want every day to be my best.
Like it’s my last.
My friends see what I let them.
Not the real me.
Only one man has ever crawled beneath my skin.
He drives me crazy.
Makes me wild.
Makes me care.
A night of bad decisions changes the course of my life.
Everything I’ve known no longer makes sense.
My enemy now stands by my side.
I’m no longer running.
I want to stay.
I want a future.
Hate has changed to something new and wonderful.
Man I swear Felice Stevens needs to put a warning notice on her books. This one should read….Have a tissue handy cause you are definitely going to need it. This was absolutely a heartbreakingly indescribable read. It will literally tear you apart only to put you back together again. Then it will still leave you wanting more of each and every one of these men in the “Man Up” series. So I am praying that this will not be the last of these men because they have all completely weaseled their way into my heart and in being honest James and Mal have probably wormed their way in the most.
This book right here is the book that I long awaited to read. From the very first book I knew that James’ book was going to be the most emotional and heartbreaking. I have no idea why I thought that but James always struck me as the one that had the most to hide and the most to reveal. He was always so tight lipped but you could tell that those he cared for, he cared for them with his whole heart. He allows those he cares about into his heart but at the same time never lets them close to him. And the reasons behind that is all revealed in this book. And boy did it make me both angry and sad for him.
From the other end of the spectrum, James has always had an intense hate for Malcolm. That hate came out so easily when Mal was around. All he had to do was walk into a room and you could feel it radiating off of James. Mal also knew what buttons to push as well to stir up some kind of, any kind of emotion in James. Which is amazing in its own since James is always in control.
This book delves into the who and why James is the way he is along with why he has such emotional outbursts towards Mal. It also explains why James and Rhoades, though both are brothers, are not as close as they could be but are working on trying to rectify that.
Felice Stevens did such a fabulous job on this book and having the emotions to not only fly off the page but to suck you in and make you feel a part of this incredible read. This is a book that will definitely stay with me a long time to come. And as I said, hopefully this will not be the last of these men. They are some incredible men and I hope their stories do not end here.
