Thank you so much for having me here today to talk about my newest release, a Christmas gay romance called Mr. Frosty Pants.
Inspired by the idea of a new adult coming home for the holidays, the book thoughtfully explores weightier themes of family conflict, class differences, and the healing power of love, all wrapped up in a sweet, delicious Christmas package of miracle snow, ice skating, Christmas tree decorating, and lovemaking by the presents. Mr. Frosty Pants is a full-length novel with a bit of meat and a lot of heat!
As a writer, I can’t dedicate myself to a story without exploring complex dynamics in some way. A story simply loses interest for me if I can’t find some deeply human aspect in it to work with and explore. In the case of Mr. Frosty Pants, I wanted to explore the way that parents can shape the choices young people make.
For example, with Joel, the “Mr. Frosty Pants” referenced in the title, I wanted to look at how abuse can lead a young man to close himself off, to refuse to risk, all while desperately yearning for someone to crack him open and really love him inside and out.
As for Casey, the other MC, I wanted to look at more subtle means of parental control—financial, emotional—which can be complex and insidious but not necessarily performed out of hatefulness. I wanted to look at the kind of parental influence that can come from fearful love.
Setting the book during Christmastime gave these explorations some boundaries and a backdrop against which the characters could show us the many ways they were enmeshed in their very human experience as sons, friends, and hopeful lovers.
We are all human animals, deep into our fleshy, emotional lives with each other, and the ties that bind us aren’t always beautiful, but they aren’t always evil either. They’re complex and tightly wound. New adults have to find a way to cut free from enough of them that they can maintain their relationships but still have room to grow and change. To make their own choices and live their own lives.
The first Christmas home after being away at college seemed like the perfect way to look at how two men can cut each other free from some of those strong familial ties, just enough so that they can truly love and grow together.
I loved writing Joel and Casey as they expressed their true hearts and came to love one another openly. I hope you enjoy it too! Thank you again for having me here to talk about Mr. Frosty Pants!

Frosty former friends get a steamy second chance in this Christmas gay romance!
Can true love warm his frozen heart?
When Casey Stevens went away to college four years ago, he ghosted on his straight best friend, Joel Vreeland. He hoped time and distance would lessen the unrequited affection he felt, but all it did was make him miss Joel more. Home for the holidays, Casey hopes they might find a way to be friends again. But Joel’s frosty reception reminds Casey of just how hard he had to fight to be Joel’s friend in the first place. It’s going to take a Christmas miracle to get past that cool façade again.
Joel isn’t as straight as Casey believes, and his years of pining for Casey have left him hurting and alone, caring for his abusive father and struggling to get by. Unable to trust anyone except his rescue dog—and with no reason to believe Casey is interested in him for more than a holiday fling—Joel’s icy heart might shatter before it can thaw.
Can Casey and Joel’s love overcome mistrust, parental rejection, class differences, and four long years apart? Mr. Frosty Pants is a stand-alone, Christmas gay romance by Leta Blake featuring a virgin hero, childhood friends-to-lovers, second chance romance, and romantically steamy scenes.
