In a tribe of stallion shifters, Alvarr is smaller and more delicate than the rest of his tribe-brothers. But he is also a rare stallion mage, a male shifter who can perform magic… a talent only found in mares.
The other tribe members mistrust Alvarr and his powers over the earth. Though the Elder stallions view the mage as something precious, they are the only ones who value him. Even the strong, commanding lead stallion, Laren, keeps his distance.
The leader’s rejection of the smaller mage hurts, until the Time of Mating brings them together. Two nights in the woods change the course of their lives forever.
This story contains M/M shifter romance / sex scenes. Mature readers only.
This is truly a different read from most shifter books but to be honest I found that I enjoyed this read. Though the main characters spend most of their time in the shifter form instead of their human form, I found myself reading this book and forgetting that point for the most part. That is truly incredible in its own that AO Spade was able to write this book in that way and make me forget at that same time. This really was a good read. I could not honestly say if I believe this to be a Stone Age read or more of a future read where things have taken a turn for the worst for the world around this tribe. I honestly like that about this book as well. AO Spade really did do a good job on this and I cannot honestly wait for the final two books in this series to come out. I am really curious as to how everything is going to play out in the end.
Alvarr is special. He is special in the way that he is a rare individual. Alvarr is a stallion mage. But more than that he is an omega as well. But I am not sure if he realizes this yet or not. When Alvarr came of age he crossed over from living with the mates to living with the stallions. Alvarr had hoped to make many friends and to make a good life for himself with the stallions but that is not the case. He feels more lonely than ever. His fearless leader does not have much to do with him unless he is doing something that he should not be doing.
Laren is the leader of the stallions. Lately something has been different for him though. He has felt this strange pull towards Alvarr he cannot explain. So instead Laren his opted to to remain indifferent towards Alvarr. But that just is not the case. No matter how hard Laren tries to stay away he just cannot.
What will happen when mating season comes into play? Will Laren and Alvarr find some kind of common ground or will things remain as they have been between them. Can Alvarr figure out his position with the pack?
