As a young stag-shifter, all Pembroke dreams of is being harnessed to Santa’s sleigh. Yet his world comes crashing down when Santa is slain by the imposter Frost.
War erupts in the Arctic Circle, pitting elf against reindeer, and Pembroke is sent on a perilous mission. If he fails, his herd will be lost. When the mission goes awry, the stag-shifter must put his trust in an unlikely ally.
Where does one turn in a land of ice and blood? What happens when the enemy infiltrates your heart? What begins as a wavering alliance just might take Pembroke farther than he ever imagined.
This book is one of those books that I was completely lost from the moment I started reading it. And sadly that never improved. I honestly cannot say if I have read any other books by Leon Mauvais in the past but I can say this book honestly did not leave a great impression on me.
I am an avid shifter reader. I love shifter reads. That is what this book is but I can honestly say that even though this was a shifter read, it took me until about halfway through the read to figure out what sort of shifter for sure Pembroke is. And even then I still question if I am right about that.
This story was all over the place. It immediately jumps into the heart of the story without much of a background to start the read out. So basically I was lost from the get go. But the main character is what really kept throwing me off. It threw me off because it would go from one scene to the next without any warning whatsoever.
I never really understood what the plot of the story was. So for this reason I gave this book a 2 rating. I will try another book of Leon’s in the future. But this was just not the one for me.
