Goddess-blessed Owen Honeyfield is destined to enjoy perfect good fortune, and the arrival of handsome and eligible Tom Drake in his country town appears to be just the latest manifestation. Tom’s proposal is the fulfillment of Owen’s desires, but Owen is left heartbroken and at the mercy of Arthur, Tom’s disapproving elder brother, when his betrothal takes a disastrous turn. His reputation ruined and his bright future shattered, Owen must choose between loneliness and practicality.

Arthur Drake has taken responsibility for Tom’s scandalous behavior all their lives. He doesn’t think much of his brother’s engagement, knowing that even Owen’s sweetness won’t be enough to influence Tom for the better. When Tom’s impulsive selfishness threatens to ruin the lives of everyone involved, Arthur has only one honorable choice. He’ll need to repair the damage Tom has done and fight for his own happiness, knowing all the while he may never be able to take Tom’s place in Owen’s heart.

This book takes place in historical times. I will be honest in saying historical reads are normally not my favorite. I cannot handle how most books take on the way people spoke back in historical times but I have to say I enjoyed this book. This book has very little of the historical speak in it and I love the fact that even though this book is not a modern-times book, being gay was accepted in this book.

Owen is a goddess blessed individual. He has always embraced it but it is also a burden in some ways as well. He feels it is part of the reason he has not found anyone to love as of yet and it is also part of the reason he is an adult but still living at home with his parents. Regardless he embraces it all and prays for love and happiness one day.

Well evidently that is what is about to happen to Owen and he just does not know it. After a rather unfortunate incident where he finds himself unconscious and brought home by a man or men he does not know, Owen does not believe it can get any worse for him then that. But boy is he wrong. One of the men, Tom Drake takes an immediate interest in Owen. So much so that after only a couple of meetings after the incident, Tom decides to ask Owen to marry him.

Owen is beyond excited but also a little overwhelmed. But still he agrees to the marriage and everything is now set into motion. Only 12 days till the big day and Owen receives some very heartbreaking news. He will no longer be getting married and worse the news had to come from Arthur, Tom’s older brother. Owen does not believe Arthur likes him very much. So when Arthur decides to become Owen’s replacement husband, Owen is once again blown away and overwhelmed. But again he agrees.

Will this be Owens chance at happiness or is marrying Arthur going to be another mistake in the long line of mistakes? Can being a replacement husband actually turn into something real?

This actually turned out to be a good read. I was surprised by just how much I enjoyed this book. I definitely look forward to more books by Eliot Grayson in the future.

Hello, I am an avid reader of male/male books. I do not have a favorite genre when it comes to male/male books because I love all of them from romance, dark reads, paranormal, shifter, threesome, whatever I see that catches my eye at the time. I read books about rock stars, CEOs, military, cops, and just the original plain old good boy types of books. Basically when it comes to a book, I read whatever I am in the mood for at the time. So my tastes varies from day to day and sometimes even hour to hour.
