The Places You’ll Go And The Things That You’ll See
Former SAS soldier, Clay Mortimer, the M in M&W Investigations, had thought he’d seen it all. But when his ex calls and asks for a favour Clay is intrigued, and then a bit surprised. He and his partner, Tate Williams, have a robust and imaginative sex life, but the things they see and learn in Fetish Alley take their understanding of human behaviour to the next level. Tate’s take is part kid in a candy store fascination, part shocked. At the end of the day, all good detective work requires an open mind and the skill to ferret out the truth. Still, the layers of deceit and avarice they encounter are more than par for the course, particularly from people who are not keen about outsiders to the world of Fetish Alley.
This was a good read. It was a little different than I expected but that is not a bad thing. I really did not know where Susan Mac Nicol was going to head with this book as it played out, I was surprised at some of the twists that came into play. I definitely look forward to the next book because this book left me with some unanswered questions. So I am hoping the questions will be answered in the next book. Other than that, this was a good read.
Tate and Clay are about to start an investigation into a mysterious death that Clay’s ex and friend just the same asks him to investigate. When a man named Dixon is found dead, where he was found is suspicious because Dixon was afraid of the place where he was found.
When Tate and Clay start to investigate, they feel as if they are going in circles. They have a list of suspects but they do not have the clear picture as to how Dixon came to be where he was found. The more they question their suspects, the way they act, the more Tate and Clay both believe they know more than they are letting on. Not to mention they all have the answers to their questions almost to the exact words.
Then when Clay least expects it, the answers come to him. He figures out what has been evading him and has left him floundering. But now that he has what he suspects are the answers to this mystery they just have to get all of the suspects together to confirm everything.
Amidst all this happening there is a new mystery that keeps popping up as well. Clay has started to receive hang up calls and one very enlightening phone call in the form of a warning. This is one of the things I believe will come more to light in the next book, or at least I hope!!!
