Former helicopter pilot Maverick Delgardo’s injuries ended his Air Force career, leaving him bitter and one drink away from becoming an alcoholic. When his sister asks for his help on a private protection case to babysit a disgraced pop star, Mav reluctantly agrees.

Deacon Daniels, onetime lead singer and idol to his teenage fans, saw his career and reputation ruined when a reporter’s exposé led to a devastating scandal. Without money or a job, a heartbroken Deacon has lost custody of his baby niece. And just when Deacon thinks his life can’t get any worse, a stalker’s threatening messages escalate to murder.

Mav only agreed to one meeting, but his protective instincts kick in, along with an attraction to Deacon. When the body count increases, however, Mav is unsure he is up to the task of protecting Deacon from a killer. But it is too late for Mav to step away, now that he’s lost his heart, and he must find the strength to reassure Deacon and his niece that they are in safe hands no matter the cost.

This book totally blew me away. I was completely captivated by this book. Once I started reading it, I was unable to put this book down. Victoria Sue has always had me captivated by her books, but this one took the cake. Each time I thought the danger had passed, there was a new one waiting in the darkness waiting to jump out. Victoria Sue is quickly climbing to the top of my favorite authors.

Mav is having a hard time since he returned home from active duty. He was injured while deployed and now his life is no longer what he knew but instead he feels as if he is no longer competent. He lost his leg and was partially burned in the incident so now he is just floundering with no where to go but down. Or so he believes.

Mav’s sister Jamie is not about to let her brother keep drowning. So when a babysitting job comes up for what is supposed to be a flakey rock star, she has her brother help her out. She already has a job she is needed on that conflicts with this job so she guilts her brother into helping her.

What is supposed to be an easy job with a rock star that is imagining things, turns out to be so much more then Mav expected. When he meets Deacon and hears his story, Mav can not see any deception in his story. The two day job turns quickly into a much longer job after someone breaks into Deacon’s place and trashed it and leaves him a message that Deacon will know.

Everything starts to escalate quickly. The danger level surrounding Deacon and those he knows increases by tenfold. People from Deacon’s past start to turn up dead and someone comes after Deacon. Mav knows that it is a matter of time before whoever is behind all of this tries again for either Deacon or Deacon’s niece. Mav is not going to let that happen if at all possible because somewhere along the way Deacon and his niece have worked their way into Mav’s heart and have given Mav a new lease on life.

Can Mav figure out who it is that is after Deacon? Can he keep both Deacon and his niece safe? Or is this person always going to stay one or two steps ahead of them?

There was so many twists to this book. I literally could not put this book down. I completely fell in love with all the characters in this book. Or at least the good guys anyway!!! This is definitely a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED READ!!!!! I soooooo look forward to more books by Victoria Sue in the future!!!!

Hello, I am an avid reader of male/male books. I do not have a favorite genre when it comes to male/male books because I love all of them from romance, dark reads, paranormal, shifter, threesome, whatever I see that catches my eye at the time. I read books about rock stars, CEOs, military, cops, and just the original plain old good boy types of books. Basically when it comes to a book, I read whatever I am in the mood for at the time. So my tastes varies from day to day and sometimes even hour to hour.
