Australian secret agent Cole Pearson never could stay out of it.

Now he is AWOL and on the run with Sean Trammel, analyst for mining giant ARBUS dodging killers and cut off from help as he never is overseas. As they try to uncover the reasons behind the attack on Sean, Cole unexpectedly realises that he has reasons purely personal and increasingly physical for wanting to keep this man safe. And as they discover the stakes for their hunters they know that it is going to take more than Cole’s charm, guns and wits to keep Sean alive and out of their clutches.

This ended up being a really fun story. It landed somewhere between intense action and silly comedy, providing a solid read.

Cole Pearson is on a stakeout as a secret agent for the Australian government. While he’s watching a building he sees what looks to be men with guns entering across the street. Taking the chance, he heads in and rescues Sean Trammel, who had no idea what was happening, just that he was being shot at.

Now the two are on the run together, trying to find out who is after them, which of them they are after, and why.

It was funny how they ended up stuck with each other and how Sean seemed so out of his element, but by the end he was paying his own way and actually supporting Cole. On the other side of the story was a bit of romance that was really sweet and touching. Most of the sexy times were off page or summarized, but the feel of the relationship was real.

My main qualm was the length of the story. At over 300 pages it seemed like some parts could have been removed to get the same feel. All in all, I found it an enjoyable read.

Reading has become such a huge part of my life as an adult. I love the escape, but I also try to take something from each story for myself. I am a lover of words. I love dialogue. I love a slow burn and a happy ever after.
