A dying city.
An ancient, forgotten accord.
And two gifted men caught in a web of greed and dark magic.
Despite belonging to different guilds, glass master Minel and warrior captain Falcon are friends. Their duties keep them apart, but when Minel falls ill and chooses death rather than the only known cure, nothing can keep Falcon from his side.
While their friendship grows into more, old wrongs and one man’s machinations threaten the floating city and leave both Minel and Falcon fighting for their lives. Can they learn to combine their gifts to save the city and its magic, or will everything they know and love perish before their eyes?
Healing Glass is an LGBT fantasy adventure with its head in the clouds. If you like medieval backdrops, impressive world-building, three-dimensional characters and a touch of magic, then you’ll love Jackie Keswick’s socially-conscious adventure.
This book turned out to be a very interesting read. It has love, betrayal, mystery, and even lots of action to it. I would consider this a paranormal romance with a twist. Jackie Keswick did a really good writing this book. I was captivated through the whole read and I was definitely routing for the good guys.
Minel is what is considered the Glass Master with healing powers. He has chosen a life of living alone because he is afraid the rumors are true about how Pair bonded are treated and so he has chosen to remain single. When Minel is diagnosed with lung evil the City Council all but forces Minel to choose a pair bonding so he can be healed of the horrible slow death he is facing if he does not. But Minel refuses. He would rather die on his terms than be forced to be with someone he does not even know or want.
When Falcon, Minel’s best friend, hears of Minel’s illness he rushes to his side. Falcon has been in love with Minel since they met when they were just kiddos. But he knows Minel did not want to ever be pair bonded with anyone. Plus Falcon is a Warrior. Things are done differently with Warriors. There is a warrior bonding that bonds two people together but they will also be linked to other warriors as well. If Minel ever asked Falcon to he would do this in a heartbeat.
As Minel grows sicker and sicker, he finally starts to admit his feelings for Falcon and how long he has felt that way. In order for Minel to finally get what he and Falcon want, Minel has to learn to be honest with Falcon and ask for what he wants. Once he is able to trust Falcon to do so, then Falcon will not deny him what they both want.
While this is all happening, The Floating City that Minel is tied to is having major problems. Only a Glass Master can fix these problems but so far Minel has not been able to get the City Glass to work with him like normal Glass will. The City is not happy with the way things are going and how the City Council is treating the people within the city. So the city itself is rebelling against the people.
Minel has to work quickly to figure out what is going on and how to fix it. But he will not be able to do that alone, he will need Falcon at his side. Can Minel and Falcon figure out what is happening and why in time? Will Minel or Falcon end up hurt for their efforts by the evil that is residing within the City Council?
This was such a great read. I really enjoyed each twist and turn that this book took. I will definitely be reading more books by Jackie Keswick in the future.
