No indiscriminate killing. No collateral damage. No unvetted targets.
These are the rules Hawes Madigan lives by. Rules that make being Fog City’s Prince of Killers bearable. Soon, he’ll be king—of an organization of assassins—and the crown has never felt heavier. Until the mysterious Dante Perry swaggers into his life.
Dante looks like a rock god and carries himself like one too, all loose-limbed and casually confident. He also carries a concealed weapon, a private investigator’s license, and a message for the prince. Someone inside Hawes’s organization is out to kill the future king.
In the chaos that follows the timely warning, Hawes comes to depend on Dante. On his skills as an investigator, on the steadiness he offers, and on their moments alone when Hawes lets Dante take control. As alliances are tested and traitors exposed, Hawes needs Dante at his back and in his bed. But if the PI ever learns Hawes’s darkest secret, Hawes is sure to get a knife to the heart—and a bullet to the brain—instead.
There’s no shortage of twists and turns in this new romantic suspense trilogy from Layla Reyne. Prince of Killers is book one of three. Fair warning: buckle up, cliffhangers ahead!
Wow. I cannot believe just how much I truly loved this book. And moreover, I cannot wait for the next book in this series to come out because the cliffhanger left me wanting the next book right this minute. I just really hope that I will not be left waiting for long time for it. Hawes, Holt, Helena, Lily, Kane and Dante have all grabbed my attention and even though I am still left questioning if their loyalties to one another are tried and true, I am definitely routing for this family. I have to say that Layla Reyne has definitely got a huge hit on her hands if this book is anything to go by where the series is concerned!!
Hawes is the “Prince Of Killers” or so that is what he is known as but is soon to be the King because he is in line to take over the Madigan organizations. His grandfather Cal is not doing well and could pass at any moment now. Hawes is next in line because his twin brother Holt and his sister Helena do not want to be a the wheel. They would rather follow Hawes. But this is not going to happen without consequences. And those consequences could just be too great for all of them.
When a man named Dante shows up out of the blue to warn Hawes that someone in his organization is going to try to kill him, Hawes does not take it too seriously because who does not have enemies in his line of work. But when the hit on him comes from those too close to home, Hawes knows he has some issues going on within his organization. Dante starts to warn his trust slowly by being there to not only help Hawes but also to help protect those that matter most to him, his family.
Dante has his own agenda for helping Hawes and Hawes is well aware of this. Dante never kept that from him so slowly Hawes starts to let Dante into his life a little at a time. And the attraction these two have between the two of them turns explosive as well. But the hits keep coming and as the family and those closest to them scramble to try and figure out who is behind it all, things start to unravel. The strings that binds may be the piece that kills in the end.
What will happen when secrets start to be revealed. Can Hawes trust anyone he thought that had his back or is it someone on the outside looking in that is trying to kill him? Is Dante the one behind it all since he is new to the scene? Or is Dante the only one Hawes can trust?
This book was so good and so full of anticipation for the the truth. The mystery just kept building until it exploded but then it did not end there and instead ended with a HUGE cliffhanger. This book will definitely leave you wanting more. I know it left me wanting and I can’t wait for the next book to come out. Highly recommended read!!
