When a single dad and a newly outed veterinarian meet by chance, it takes red-cheeked conversations, a tentative friendship, and the willingness to put their hearts on the line to show these men they’re made for each other.

Single dad Davis Jackson is busy balancing his coffee shop and being the best dad he can be. That doesn’t mean he’s not lonely. After a fumbling encounter with a man who looks as gorgeous as he does unhappy, Davis is left wondering who the mystery man is.

All Davis knows is that he has never felt such an instant attraction to anyone before, but when he discovers the brown-eyed man’s identity, it’s clear the recently out-of-the-closet veterinarian is lost and quite possibly broken.

The ability to take a character like Dr. D!ckface and turn him into a character that you want all the best for is an incredible feat, which Becca Seymour has accomplished in this book.

After finally coming out of the closet at work by bullying and hating on Davis’s friend Carter, Scott has left the veterinary clinic and is taking a cooling off period. When he meets Davis, he’s smitten at first sight, but is nowhere near ready to start anything. Especially with Davis, who is a single dad.

This story of redemption was incredibly well done. I loved how Scott becomes such an incredibly human, flawed, deserving man who’s capable of love and respect. He’s humble and worthy of all of the praise he receives and it’s sincerely heartwarming.

Family was a huge theme weaved through this book and I absolutely loved how all of the characters dropped everything for each other and had each other’s backs.

This book is highly recommended and a wonderful read.

Reading has become such a huge part of my life as an adult. I love the escape, but I also try to take something from each story for myself. I am a lover of words. I love dialogue. I love a slow burn and a happy ever after.
