Can two men keep a childhood promise for marital bliss?
Wyatt is overwhelmed after his grandfather dies, leaving him to take over the cattle ranch. The Triple J is floundering, vandals are targeting him, and his first and only love is finally within reach–and still holding a grudge. Wyatt has wanted to marry Diego since they made a childhood pact, but Diego isn’t back for their second chance.
When a funeral calls Diego back to Texas, he comes face-to-face with the cowboy who broke his heart. Resentment has burned inside him for years, but his anger wavers as he realizes just how much Wyatt is struggling to keep his head above water. The man he once loved is lonely and burdened, and Diego feels compelled to help him rediscover the strong, capable rancher he knows him to be.
Hostility gives way to passion, then friendship as they fall into a rhythm of work and sex. Wyatt has renewed hope he might wrangle the man he wants to be his groom. But Diego has a life waiting for him one thousand miles away, and love may not be enough to prevent history from repeating itself.
Wrangling a Groom is Book 2 of the Marital Bliss series, but can be read as a standalone.
I really enjoyed this book. It has best friends that was once more, only to have their relationship torn apart. Not only that but it ruined the friendship and now six years later, they come face to face once more and all that old hurt and anger, well it is still present and may not go away anytime soon, if ever. I love a book that has some drama to it especially were it involves two people that used to be close only to end up not liking the other.
Wyatt is now the owner of Triple J ranch. He grew up on the ranch with his mom and grandfather and now that his grandfather has passed away, the ranch is his. This ranch has brought Wyatt a lot of heartache through the years because of it was not for the ranch then he may still have his best friend and ex boyfriend in his life. But when Wyatt’s grandfather was alive, he caught Wyatt with his once best friend Diego kissing and he gave Wyatt an ultimatum. Either end things or he would not inherit the ranch one day. At the time, Wyatt had thought what would be a temporary separation from Diego until he could make his grandfather understand what they meant to each other, well it turned into so much more. He lost Diego that day not to be heard from again.
Diego left the farm the day he and Wyatt was caught not to come back again. He cut all ties to Wyatt and moved to Miami to start a new life. Though Diego would like to believe that six years later he is over Wyatt, that does not seem to be the case when Diego returns to the ranch when he hears of Wyatt’s grandfather passing.
When Diego returns, he can tell the ranch is not doing as well as it once was. He also realized that he is still very angry with Wyatt for choosing the ranch over him. So when Wyatt starts to immediately stick his foot in his mouth where Diego is concerned, it really brings that anger on the forefront for Diego and he ends up letting that anger out on Wyatt. Diego did not realize that as much as he wants to not like Wyatt, he feels bad for letting his anger rule his emotions where Wyatt was concerned. He also realizes he is not over Wyatt as much as he hoped he was either.
This trip back to the ranch was supposed to be a quick one for the funeral but it turns into so much more. It turns out this trip is an opportunity for Diego to finally put his past to rest so maybe he can finally move on with his life. But Wyatt is determined that Diego is his future. How will things finally end between these two former boyfriends and best friends? Can they find a new common ground? Will they be able to finally lay the hurt and anger from the past to rest?
This was such a great read!! I really enjoyed this book so much!! DJ Jamison definitely wrote a great book where this one is concerned. This book is sort of a spin off of one of the previous books “Bliss Island”. And I love that she brought those characters back in this book!! Great read!!
