Shifting Into High Fear

Ghost/god Wes Cooper and his not-life partner, vampire Hudson Rojas, have settled into cohabitation in an upscale part of Toronto. So what if their hoity-toity new neighbors haven’t exactly rolled out the welcome mat for the paranormal pair? Their PI business is booming, and when a suspect they’ve been tailing winds up in the morgue, it’s alongside a rash of other shifters in apparent drug-related fatalities.

Now Wes and Hudson must connect the dots between the shifter deaths and an uptick in brutal vampire attacks across the city. Throw in a surprise visit from Hudson’s niece—who may or may not be on the run from European paranormal police (who may or may not exist)—and guardianship of a teen shifter who might be the key to solving the whole mystery (if only she could recover her memory), and Wes and Hudson have never been busier…or happier.

But when a nightmare from Hudson’s past comes back to haunt him, their weird, little found family is pushed to the brink. Mucking this up would mean Hudson and Wes missing their second chance at happily-forever-afterlife…

I can honestly say that I do not think I have read the books before this one because I would definitely remember Wes and Hudson. But with that said, I like the fact that I was able to start this book and not feel as if I was completely lost. I honestly felt as if I was reading the first book in this series since it was so easy to follow what was happening. That is truly a good thing!! This book was an incredible read! I really enjoyed this book so much. It is a paranormal mystery/suspense. It is action packed with lots of twists and even some fated mates thrown in there as well. But it also had its sad parts that broke your heart as well. Overall this was an amazing read. I am so glad that I read it. I look forward to more in this series if there is more!!

Wes is a ghostly God. He is not sure what God he represents because it is still new to him and he has not embraced that part of himself fully but he knows that it is there and eventually will happen. Though Wes is a ghostly God he can and mostly stays in his human form. The biggest thing where Wes is concerned is as of so far being a ghostly God means that he has not been able to stay dead. Which is good for him and his mate Hudson.

Hudson is an ex cop and also a vampire. He owns a private investigator firm with other friends. What makes it so great is Hudson is able to work with Wes on the cases and in some instances he is able to get Hudson information that he normally would not be able to get.

One of the things about Wes being a ghostly God is other paranormals come to him asking for help. In the most recent instance it has led Wes and Hudson to a new, deadly case. Someone has found a way to get paranormals high but also to kill them as well, which is not an easy feat. Also at the same time this case lands in their lap so does Hudson niece that he has not seen in years and another girl/shifter named Sam. Both in their own ways seem to have some sort of connection either directly or indirectly to the case that Hudson and Wes is working on.

What happens when the case leads Hudson to someone in his past that he thought he would never have to deal with again? Can Hudson recover from the shock and can Wes help Hudson when he ends up in harms way? Will they be able to stop whoever it is that is out to hurt other paranormals? And if so will these two men ever be the same in the end?

This was such a great read with, as I said, many twist and turns. It is one of those books that will leave you on the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next. I really enjoyed this read!! I look forward to more in the future.

Hello, I am an avid reader of male/male books. I do not have a favorite genre when it comes to male/male books because I love all of them from romance, dark reads, paranormal, shifter, threesome, whatever I see that catches my eye at the time. I read books about rock stars, CEOs, military, cops, and just the original plain old good boy types of books. Basically when it comes to a book, I read whatever I am in the mood for at the time. So my tastes varies from day to day and sometimes even hour to hour.
