Vampires slaughtered my family.

No one believed me until I met some new friends, who promised to help me get justice.

But nothing prepared me for Marcus Varik.

Tall, dark, and mind-numbingly sexy.

But he’s also shy, protective, and adorably eccentric.

Oh God, I should have never agreed to betray him.

Hopefully, it’s not too late to fix my mistake before I lose more people I love.

Claiming Marcus is the first book in an MM paranormal romance series that has vampires, betrayal, annoying brothers, music, heartbreak, hope, sexy times, and a raven named Ozzie.

As much as I wanted to love this book, it sort of had me wanting more in the end. I’m hoping that the next book in the series will answer some of my questions.

I loved the first third of the book. LOVED. Ethan was driven to revenge 16 years after his entire apartment building, including his family, was slaughtered by vampires. Hired by Marcus Varik, a vampire, he hoped to get confirmation of which vampire murdered his family, then end them. Instead, he found the Varik family to be interesting, good, and welcoming. But in making new friends, he’s also found he’s made even more enemies.

The romance part of the book was unbelievably well done. I loved all of it. It was a slow burn, then a singeing fire. The bond between Marcus and Ethan exploded off the page.

It was the rest of the story that had me needing more… wanting answers. Nothing was truly explained about why anything had happened. The motivations behind each individual that was involved. I had just hoped for a bit more in this first book.

Overall, it was full of excitement, romance, and some amazing characters.

Reading has become such a huge part of my life as an adult. I love the escape, but I also try to take something from each story for myself. I am a lover of words. I love dialogue. I love a slow burn and a happy ever after. Favorite Authors: Garrett Leigh, Amy Lane, Mary Calmes, Lane Hayes, T.J. Klune, Roan Parrish, N.R. Walker, Cara Dee, Anyta Sunday
