Legacies were made to be rewritten.
Assassin Hawes Madigan wants to do right—by his family, his organization, his city, and the man he’s falling for, ATF agent Christopher Perri. But Hawes’s rules are being challenged by someone willing to kill for the old ways. To save his soul and his empire, Hawes must make an impossible decision: fight from the outside or bend the knee to win back his throne from within.
Chris is used to being the inside man, the one undercover. Now, he’s on the outside marshaling forces in support of the man and the ring of assassins he was supposed to take down. His mission shifted when he found something that’s been missing for ten long years—a home, with Hawes.
As Hawes and Chris make a dangerous play for control, the lines between allies and traitors blur. Trusting the wrong person could destroy the legacy Hawes envisions for the Madigans. But not trusting anyone, or each other, could mean lights out on their love and lives forever.
The King and King Slayer fight together in this thrilling conclusion to the Fog City Trilogy!
Damn. And double damn. I gobbled the book in matter of hours, and now I’m probably going tor read it again to savor every moment.
New Empire is stunning conclusion to story told in two previous books. All cards are now on the table, players going for all or nothing. There are still secrets to uncover and it’s as exciting and breathtaking story as previous two. Now however, Chris and Hawes are working together, not just toward common goal. Here it becomes obvious how far they have come and how their abilities and characters complement each other. That’s very good thing, because the enemy they face is cunning, dangerous and remorseless. They have only one chance at future and both have to do their best.
Once again, there are unexpected revelations and surprises in last moment. It’s a hold your breath and keep your eyes open story, because events change swiftly, danger ratcheting up from one moment to the next.
The only difference is that now Chris and Hawes are settled in relationship. It’s calm in the eye of the storm. They risk each other and everything they have if they make wrong step. They are as explosive as they were before, using what they have to save everyone.
I was giddy when finished reading and am thrilled with the book!
