Yani Nicolaou is sworn off love for good. After fleeing a bad break-up in London, the only blood, sweat, and tears he has left are for his gyro stall at the Christmas market. Rebound fling? No thanks. He’s sticking to one-night-stands.

Ex-army vet Gavin Richie has even less capacity for romance. Managing a homeless shelter while recovering from injury keeps him far too busy. So what if he’s often alone? He’s content being single, or so he thinks until a chance meeting lights a spark he can’t ignore.

Yani is the warmth and affection Gavin hadn’t known he was missing. As Christmas lights up the city, their lives entwine in more ways than one. Falling for each other is easy. Holding on is harder, unless a hometown Christmas proves their love can last longer than the festive season.

I really enjoyed Wedge’s character in previous books. I was wondering if we’d ever get it, so I was thrilled when I learned this was his story.

There wasn’t a ton on mention of his military days, just some brief overview, but Gavin (Wedge) is running a homeless shelter and needs a cook last minute. One of the other workers asks her friend Yani to fill in. Yani has his own Greek food cart and is up to his eyeballs in work. But he can’t say no to helping out.

When they meet, it just all becomes so easy between them. Neither is looking for a long term thing. Both have secrets and bad relationships in their past, so deciding on a one time thing was easy. When emotions crept into it, things got confusing.

This didn’t seem like the full on angsty story that Garrett Leigh is known for. It felt like more romance than angst. I have to admit, I enjoyed the change in this one. It just fit with the characters so well. They were both so… nice! And so easy together. I really fell in love with them as a couple. And the swearing between them at the end put a huge smile on my face.

Absolutely worth the read, even just to get to know Gavin and Yani.

Reading has become such a huge part of my life as an adult. I love the escape, but I also try to take something from each story for myself. I am a lover of words. I love dialogue. I love a slow burn and a happy ever after. Favorite Authors: Garrett Leigh, Amy Lane, Mary Calmes, Lane Hayes, T.J. Klune, Roan Parrish, N.R. Walker, Cara Dee, Anyta Sunday
