When Nate Hawthorne meets Asher Dane, the huge, tattooed hunk is the personification of Nate’s dreams. But Nate knows there’s no future, because Asher is also the personification of his beloved five-year-old daughter Delly’s nightmares. She’s frightened of big men. Things turn around for both of them, however, when Delly goes Christmas shopping at the Fairy Shop and begins her quest for a wand that will make her brave. Neither of them guesses that the Fairy Shop will be the source of far more than Delly’s courage. On Christmas Eve, under the influence of a very unusual fairy, Nate’s life will change forever.

The story was very whimsical and cute, full of fairies and unicorns.

Nate is a single dad, his daughter Delphine newly living with him. His ex-wife has gotten involved with a large brute of a man that scares Delphine and is abusive.

The story involves the weeks prior to Christmas, shopping for presents, unicorns, and a magic wand.

I really enjoyed the MC’s, but I found Ophelia, the owner of the Fairy Shop to be somewhat strange, as well as the fact that Aiden knew things about her without being told. For me there was an underlying current of doubt flooding the story.

Delphine saved it for me, as she was perfectly afraid of Aiden at first, then grew fond of him. She was the most personable, real character.

It was a nice, very holiday filled quick read.

Reading has become such a huge part of my life as an adult. I love the escape, but I also try to take something from each story for myself. I am a lover of words. I love dialogue. I love a slow burn and a happy ever after. Favorite Authors: Garrett Leigh, Amy Lane, Mary Calmes, Lane Hayes, T.J. Klune, Roan Parrish, N.R. Walker, Cara Dee, Anyta Sunday
