Lucas Barnett and Gabriel Stewart didn’t have it easy as kids. They were only trying to deal with bad situations at home when they became lifelines for each other. Their pipe dream was to someday meet in LA, where Lucas would design skyscrapers, and Gabriel would learn to fly. But then Gabriel disappeared without so much as a goodbye, and Lucas got himself in trouble with the law.

Five years later, both men are at a loss when they run into each other at a Hollywood bar. Lucas is still angry, but it’s not as if Gabriel could control how his mind and body had betrayed him. Being found on the ledge of that bridge had changed everything.

The attraction is immediate, but it’s more than their inability to keep their hands off each other. Neither man expects the fierce connection pulling them together. Unfortunately, ignoring their problems doesn’t make them disappear. Gabriel’s internal struggles are serious…dangerous. And no matter how much Lucas wants it to be true, saving Gabriel won’t make up for not being able to save his mom. If they don’t find the strength to face their own demons before the darkness takes hold, they risk more than just losing each other forever.

Touch the Sky by Christina Lee and Nyrae Dawn is the touching story of two young who meet online. They are both struggling at home and have made a pact to come together and start over when they turn 18. Unfortunately, life gets in the way of their plans, and they lose touch. Neither one has forgotten the other, and when they meet again by chance all those feelings of familiarity, hope, longing can’t be denied.

My highlights:

-Gabe. He suffers from bipolar disorder and since he was uninsured was unable to get his medicine. Despite his condition and everything he has suffered, there was still this light that beamed from him. I also appreciated how his disorder was handled and how he came on his own.
-Lucas. My heart broke for him for everything that he had to deal with but just like Gabe I thought the authors did an excellent job developing his character and having him come on his own.
-The story is told from an alternating POV.
-Angst. The story carries a heavy tone but never felt overly angsty, and I think it always gave a feeling of hope even in it’s darkest moments.
-Chemistry. These two men complimented each other perfectly both as friends and as lovers.
-Pace. The pace was flawless, flowed effortlessly.

My only thing is I would’ve loved an epilogue but don’t worry the story does end with a strong HFN. I know they’ll make it, but I would’ve liked to see them years down the road.

All in all, this book gets 4.8 Stars. This was a beautiful friends to lovers story that will break your heart and heal it with hope. Great job, ladies!

P.S. I can’t wait for book two, but I’m praying it’s a spinoff a different character and not a sequel for Gabe and Lucas. Please no more heartbreak for them! Leave them happy. ♥
