Nightclub owner Marcus Feldman never met a man he didn’t love, at least for the night. Although his best friends have all found love, Marcus shuns their advice to commit to one man and settle down. His past has taught him monogamy and marriage is for fools, and Marcus is anything but a fool.
Tyler Reiss’s dream of dancing professionally is unexpectedly cut short and replaced by a different kind of love. He trades in his ballet slippers for go go boots, and spends his nights dancing at the hottest gay club in the city. Flirting with the customers for tips is easy, but resisting the dark and sexy Marcus is becoming harder to do with each passing day.
Unforeseen circumstances bring Marcus and Tyler closer and though they give in to their mutual passion, both still struggle to guard their hearts. When crises threaten, Tyler and Marcus find their strength in each other rather than falling apart. Tyler must choose to either run, or stay and fight for the life he wants, while Marcus realizes that love doesn’t mean losing himself and opens his heart, making him a better man in the end.
“Love, Marcus decided, seeing Tyler pressed between two men as he danced, was for the weak. Lucky for him, he was strong and focused.”
This is Marcus’ book, finally we get to see inside the head of the infamous playboy of our three friends who make up The Breakfast Club! I have been waiting for this story because I knew that when Marcus met his match the boy was going to fall hard! Try as he might, it happened before he even realized what happened. Felice Stevens created the perfect counterpart to Marcus, Tyler – he is strong willed, not afraid to do anything to survive, compassionate, and he is not about to be some rich guys next trick! Tyler is working at Marcus’ club as a male go-go dancer to strum up business and while he flirts with the customers it’s the owner of the club who has him in his sights! From almost the first day, Tyler has Marcus wrapped around his finger. Once Marcus starts developing feelings (even if he doesn’t recognize them) he goes into total Papa bear mode wanting to protect and care for Tyler.
“You can’t take over my life, Marcus; you don’t own me.” “Trust me, when I do own you, you’re going to know it.”
You see, Tyler has some secrets of his own and he is very protective of these secrets. Marcus soon finds out that Tyler isn’t such an easy man to persuade to see things his way.
Meanwhile, life goes on all around Marcus and his friends can’t believe what they are witnessing. Could the Marcus Feldman be falling in love? Would he admit it, if asked? Probably not..so Julian gently nudges him to recognize his feelings.
“One day you’ll meet someone who’ll set your world spinning, and you won’t know how to stop it.” When Julian tells Marcus this, and not for the first time, Marcus blows him off stating that he won’t ever fall in love and his world is just fine how it is. Tyler on the other hand doesn’t want to be someone’s one night stand he has too much riding on the line and he refuses to be that guy. When Tyler reveals his secrets to Marcus, it surprises both Marcus and Tyler that Marcus doesn’t run…this may be what starts to soften Tyler’s heart toward Marcus. That and the insane sexual tension developing between them.
I loved this book, the back and forth between Marcus and Tyler and the underlying chemistry before they actually hooked up was amazing, then add in the between the sheets chemistry and we have an explosive book!!
Felice Stevens definitely ended this series with a huge bang and now I will have a book hangover and miss my Breakfast Club men!! I have faith though that Felice will find a way to sprinkle them in the backdrop of an upcoming book just as we got to see characters from other books in this one – all I can hope for is that the next book comes soon!!
5+ Stars to Second to None and 5 stars to the entire series!! A highly recommended read!!
